Gavin Extence

Gavin Extence was born in Boston in 1982 and grew up in Swineshead. He is the award -winning author of four novels, which have been translated into over twenty languages. His debut, The Universe versus Alex Woods was part of the Richard and Judy Summer Book Club, topped the Amazon Christmas Kindle charts and went on to be an international bestseller. His second novel, The Mirror World of Melody Black featured in the BBC Radio 2 Book Club and was long-listed for the International Dublin Literary Award.
Gavin writes books that are funny and sad and weird but relatable. He has written on subjects including assisted suicide, the European refugee crisis, mental health, rare brain disorders, evil bankers and meteor impacts.. He is currently working on a fifth novel, which is about a teenage autistic girl who finds herself entrusted with a life-changing secret.
Gavin lives in Sheffield with his wife, children and cat. he will be reading from his latest novel at the Boston Book Festival and talking about his writing career so far.
